• La Guarida Ranch

“Conservation pioneers of the endemic fauna and flora in the State of Chihuahua”

La Guarida Ranch encompasses 20,000 acres (8,000 ha) located in the Tinaja Verde mountains, approximately 35 miles southwest of Presidio, TX., which was a historic habitat of the desert bighorn sheep.

The Mexican desert bighorn sheep (Ovis canadensis mexicana) became extinct from the state of Chihuahua during the 1960s.
La Guarida Ranch was acquired in 1981 with the purpose to reintroduce the desert sheep to its original and historic habitats.
Today the Ranch has around 400 animals and has reintroduced the desert bighorn sheep to other ranches in the state of Chihuahua.
